Established in the year 1989 in Thripunithura, the “Temple Town of Kerala”, Ernakulam Dairy is the largest co-operative dairy in Kerala. As a part of implementation of OPERATION FLOOD II project, the Dairy was built under the supervision of National Dairy Development Board. This dairy was constructed with fair intention of ensuring “Socio-economic progress of Dairy Farmers of Ernakulam and Idukki districts through consumer satisfaction”. To achieve this goal, it served the interest of consumers in Ernakulam district and parts of Kottayam and Idukki districts by providing quality and safe milk and milk products. At present, Ernakulam Dairy procures milk from farmers through hundreds of Bulk Milk Coolers installed in various parts of its operational area.
Various products manufactured are milk in pouches (4 varieties), Curd in pouches (2 varieties), Sambharam in pouches, Butter (2 varieties) and Ghee.
Started with 70000 litres of milk in 1989, Today it handles 270000 litres of milk, 13,000 litres of curd, 2500 Kgs Ghee and 300 kg Butter per day
Present turnover of this Dairy is 550 crores and designed capacity is 3.5 lakh litres per day.
