The Union procures about 3.37 lakhs litres milk per day from producers through Anand Pattern Dairy Cooperatives (APCOS) and traditional societies, encompassing 939 functional Dairy Co-operative Societies that support approximately 3.4 Lakhs farmer members in Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki and Thrissur Districts. The Procurement and Input Department assists in organizing milk societies and executing dairy development activities in villages.
Our commitment to improving milk quality led to the successful implementation of the Government of India's scheme, "Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production," between 2004 and 2009. We achieved 100% success in installing Bulk Milk Coolers across 185 societies, increasing our daily chilling capacity to 4.7 lakh litres. Concurrently, the Intensive Dairy Development Programme (IDDP) was executed in Idukki district with an outlay of Rs. 288.12 lakhs, also reaching full achievement.
Strategic Investments for Future Growth
Significant investments under various plan schemes and Centrally Sponsored Schemes are set to revolutionize the milk production landscape, fostering enhanced productivity and quality.
